Writing a book

They say there is a book in all of us and to be honest I didn’t really believe this. Then just over a year ago I wrote my first book. Much to my surprise I found it very easy, well that is after an initial false start. I wrote a couple of chapters and then decided it had the wrong tone and wasn’t really representing what I was trying to say. I ripped it up and started again and then it just seemed to flow. It took me a few months but I found I could leave it for a few days or even a week or more then just get back into it and pick up where I left off.

I found the whole process really cathartic so I must have had a lot to get off my chest or out of my head and put down in print. That was over a year ago and I have done nothing with it since. For some reason I was reluctant to publish it and sell it. Maybe it felt too precious to ‘commercialize’ it, or maybe I felt reluctant to share it because I felt quite exposed by it. I’m not really sure why but I have now decided to share it now for free. This somehow feels a better way of sharing it. So please if you can find an hour or so to read it I would really appreciate any feedback. I’m well into my second book now and it would be very helpful to know if my first book is:

  • Easy/difficult to read/follow
  • Offers any useful insights
  •  holds the readers interest
  • is suitable for publishing
  • needs more/less content
  • would recommend or share with a friend
  • any other useful comments.

Thank you and I hope you enjoy the book.My book today
